Telephone options
From DoWire Wiki
The following products may related to our telephone input options with Democaster:
1. Voice reports - The Phone IndyMedia Patch system allows users to make a voice report via a telephone.
2. Leverage telephone podcasting - OpenPodcast.org uses the K7.Net free voicemail to e-mail serivce to gather, then share up to five minute MP3 files.
3. Learn from audio blogging - There are some audio blogging services of note as well:
4. Use linux voice mail - One of the key challenges is choosing the best voice modem as well as making it possible to use VOIP to answer incoming calls (if the quality is OK) to avoid the need for a PSTN telephone line. We'd like to try both in our prototype. It might be overkill, but one idea is to use Asterisk] the open source linux PBX as a voice mail system to gather the meeting recordings. Or perhaps the VOCP linux voicemail system.
5. Use Skype - This mac user tells the tale. Worth exploring as a future option perhaps.
6. Improving the audio quality - Telephones tend to muffle the sounds. When you compare a radio host to a caller it is obvious. Using open source linux audio applications for real-time sound quality enhancement of the incoming sound will be explored.
