It seems there is an emerging issue of the competitive nature of wi-fi service in municipalities. Most recently, in the US we are seeing the development of wi-fi networks at the local level being challenged by state legislatures.The trend is also emerging in Europewhere there are issues between business and government roles and responsibilites.

The hightlight of the brief so far is the fact that the city of Atlanta has emerged as a city government that has a wi-fi city council chamber.
