[edit] Airport to Food Hotel
A taxi runs around $30 and theSuper Shuttle is around $15. Food
We recommend that you follow the taxi/transportation signs from the baggage claim area (down, under, and up) as simply grab a taxi. Particularly if you are in a hurry to reach the hotel on Monday, July 25 so you can attend the St. Paul Saints pre-conference event.
The new light rail line from the airport is $1.25 - 1.75 each way, however it only brings you within 15 minutes walk of the conference hotel via the Riverside stop. This option should only be used during the day with light luggage.
A free shuttle from the hotel (when available) can take you downtown (up to 3 miles) or to the light rail stop for a trip to the Mall of America at the end of the line (past the airport).
[edit] Hotel to Conference
Walk three blocks ... ask for directions at the hotel or print our handy dandy map.
[edit] Around the Twin Cities
If you plan to come early or squeeze in a couple tourist days, renting a car is advised. The bus system is comprehensive, but this is America.
See our Minnesota page for links and ideas.
[edit] Flights
All attendees and speakers are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs. We encourage your to explore Minnesota while you are here.
Attendees from Europe, North America, and Asia can find direct (LGW to MSP, AMS to MSP) or one stop connections via NWA/KLM into the Twin Cities "MSP" airport. While most major airlines connect to the large Twin Cities airport, those flying from overseas will find customs in Minneapolis a breeze compared to other major U.S. hubs. This will reduce your travel time.
Icelandair flys into MSP via Iceland with connections in many European cities.
Cheap Domestic Flights
Sun Country, ATA, AirTran and Frontier airlines are among the main domestic discount domestic flight providing service to the Twin Cities.
Those coming from outside the United States might be interested in additional stop overs for e-democracy site visits in Washington, DC and other cities. Steven Clift advises you to consider an "open jaw" ticket into Minneapolis and out from another city. Use a separate domestic cheap airline ticket to fly one-way from Minneapolis to another city (note - major carriers tend to offer more expensive one-way flights).
