Low Barrier Webcasting

There is no limit to the sophistication of webcasting technologies. The approaches commonly taken by established webcasters are beyond the budget and skills of many new webcasters. Fortunately, there are ways to begin webcasting using easily obtained and easily learned technologies.
Audio-Only Webcasting, for example can provide access to meeting proceedings and is much easier to set up than video webcasting. While streaming audio makes it easy to sample the webcast, a downloadable version, for example in MP3 format, is even easier to achieve.
Podcasting couples this with RSS technology to create a blog-like effect where the latest audio files are downloaded as they become available. Whilst basic hardware, connectivity and technical support requirements will inevitably require some investment, capital costs may limited by using free or Open Source Webcasting tools.
One example of a low barrier webcasting tool set is Democaster.
If even an audio webcast is beyond reach, one option is to simply provide a Web-based Presentation. This from PowerPoint to Web resource provides reviews of twelve popular applications (under $700) that you can use to convert PowerPoint slides into a web format.
