Instruments to encourage voters to vote

Both governments and citizens themselves have pushed voters during the last elections in the Netherlands to go vote. Important instruments to do so where both special websites and pages on existing websites. In order to push forward local democracy municipal and other decentral governments could use webpages to inform voters not only about the coming elections, but also about their choices, and maybe administrative steps when for instance they have to register. So, in other words, my suggestion for the laundry list is to look at best practices of websites meant to encourage voters to go vote.
