Usage of the best equipment available is ideal for best results. Broadcast camera, microphone and editing equipment ensure the best results.
Connecting the video and audio sources to the computer requires a capture device. If a broadcast standard video capture card is available this is the ideal. Alternatively a popular streaming media capture card is produced by Viewcast called the Osprey Card. This device allows input using the same cables used in professional systems.
Depending on the card the input types include: DV, SDI, Composite (BNC), S-Video, Balanced stereo (2 x XLR), Unbalanced stereo (2 x RCA), Embedded SDI, DV audio (IEEE1394), and AES/EBU (XLR).
Fireware is another option (IEEE1394) This can connect a video camera into a computer directly. Many professional production equipment has IEEE1394 output allowing the import the content via the firewire port on a computer.
In both capture card and firewire, the video is feed into either the encoder or editing software.
