DoWire Wiki:Itself

From DoWire Wiki

The name of this page is DoWire.Org:Itself.

The extension itself here, after the name of the actual wiki, is a wiki best practice that makes clear that this is the central place to define and redefine the actual visited wiki, to direct its mission or contest its basic assumptions. Similarly, DoWire.Org:We is to be linked whenever users make consensus statements: what "we" say about DoWire "itself", is what it "is".

It there is a relevant comment on another page, there should be also a link to DoWire:Itself to make it easier to find those comments from this page itself, by using the special page What links here. From this central place, they can be discussed.

See en: Wikipedia: itself for an example of how this is done. There are several related pages like "what Wikipedia is not" which compile the things that are claimed about Wikipedia within Wikipedia that turn out to be rejected as part of its overall mission. An equivalent page what DoWire is not may be helpful but it is not the only reason to track everything it says about itself.

The DoWire.Org wiki

Note that the wiki is not DoWire.Org:Itself, just one tool used within it. Combining the mailing lists, teleconferences and worn devices we use to make it work, we have an intranet. This is only part of the organization, though a critical one.

Claims about the wiki (example):

  • The trick with this wiki is that every participant is able to work on a ongoing common draft. This helps generate ideas and corrections quickly!
