In a large public wiki, your assertions are more survivable if you add references, i.e.: links to supporting evidence to your text.

Standards for evidence/source/authority question chains to support issue/position/argument are in use, e.g. at Green Party of Canada Living Platform.

The openreferences.net project seeks to find ways to refer, cite, quote and defer to authority that are standard across many web services. This would be particularly useful for Living Platform and Consumerium and similar applications.
